On March 13, our Institute, the Department of Economics, and the Institute of Financial Economics (IFE) at the American University of Beirut, hosted a discussion on "Inequality, Globalization and Democracy" with Branko Milanovic, a leading expert on global inequality, and Ishac Diwan, IFI Associate Fellow and Professor of Economics at AUB.
On March 10, 2025, our Institute hosted the official launch and discussion of " Towards a Productive 'New' Lebanon," a research report co-authored by Amer Bisat, newly appointed Lebanese minister of economy and trade, and Ishac Diwan, Professor of Economics at AUB.
IFI, the Palestine Land Studies Center (PLSC), and the Department of Political Studies and Public Administration at the American University of Beirut hosted an event on February 21, featuring UN Special Rapporteur on the Palestinian Territories Occupied since 1967 Francesca Albanese (joining online), in conversation with Assistant Professor and IFI University Fellow Jamil Mouawad and PLSC Director Zeina Jallad. The discussion, titled "Their Fate, Their Land: Palestine and the Future of International Law", addressed the limits of international law and justice for Palestine.
On March 4, our Institute hosted a closed discussion on UNSC Resolution 1701 and the 2024 ceasefire agreement, gathering academics, media and representatives of the diplomatic community in Lebanon.
