IFI, in collaboration with the Agence française de développement (AFD), held a series of expert roundtable meetings from February 22-24 as part of the study being prepared on “Research and Public Policy Dialogue on Environmental Transition in Lebanon,” also known as “NETRA.”

Experts in the fields of solid waste, water/wastewater, air pollution, and Land Use, Land Use Change and Forestry in Lebanon were invited to share their perspectives on the research done and provide feedback to reinforce the project’s findings.

IFI, in collaboration with the Institut Français du Proche-Orient (IFPO) and the Center for Arab and Middle Eastern Studies (CAMES) at the American University of Beirut, hosted a discussion with François Héran on “France’s Migration Policy in the Light of the European Context,” with the participation of IFI Assistant Director, Yara Mourad and IFI Associate Fellow Maja Janmyr. Héran presented a detailed overview of France’s recent positions in relation to the influx of refugees to Europe, including a comparison between the response to Syrian/West Asian and Ukrainian refugees.
