THE ISSAM FARES INSTITUTE FOR PUBLIC POLICY AND INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS
The American University of Beirut’s Global Engagement Initiative (GEI) in collaboration with IFI held a talk on “Lebanon's Multiple Crises: Political, Economic & Climate Implications" at the University’s New York Office – Debs Center on September 18, on the sidelines of this year’s UN General Assembly. Moderated by MSNBC Host Ayman Mohyeldin, speakers included IFI Director Joseph Bahout, ATFL President Amb. Edward Gabriel and US Institute of Peace’s MENA Center VP Mona Yacoubian. The multi-faceted discussion touched upon the myriad crisis facing Lebanon, whether financial, institutional, refugee and overall political deadlock. Speakers also explored how the future would look like based on the potential for international support for Lebanon and the role of Lebanon’s new generation and that of the private sector in pulling the country out of the abyss.
