THE ISSAM FARES INSTITUTE FOR PUBLIC POLICY AND INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS
On the occasion of the Israeli Apartheid Week, the Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs (IFI) and the Palestinian Cultural Club at the American University of Beirut (AUB) organized a panel discussion to commemorate this international effort. The event titled "New International Discourse on Palestine: Shaping the Path Forward" took place on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 on Zoom and in IFI’s conference room (4th floor).
This discussion aimed at studying the prevalence of the human rights/apartheid rhetoric on the international level by discussing the latest report by Amnesty titled “Israel’s Apartheid against Palestinians: Cruel System of Domination and Crime against Humanity”. It also aimed to reflect on how Palestinians at home and abroad are reacting to this discourse to reinforce their case to the international community in general, and most importantly how the use of such a discourse raises questions regarding the failure of the two-state solution negotiations and the alternatives presented. ----- Panelists Saleh Hijazi MENA Deputy Regional Director at Amnesty International Mustafa Barghouti General Secretary of the Palestinian National Initiative - Mubadara Dalal Iraqat Vice President for International Relations and Assistant Professor of diplomacy at Arab American University of Palestine Inès Abdel Razek Advocacy Director at the Palestine Institute for Public Diplomacy Moderator Howayda Al-Harithy Director of the Palestine Land Studies Center at AUB Comments are closed.
