The regional transformations in the Arab World post-COVID-19

The Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs (IFI) at the American University of Beirut (AUB) hosted a web talk with Tarek Osman titled "The Regional Transformations Post COVID-19", on Thursday, June 11, 2020 at 3 pm. ​

While many people talk of the “return of the state” in the post COVID-19 world, Tarek Osman contends that this coming period will see a weakening of many states around the world. By taking into account the geo-political implications both globally and regionally, Tarek addressed the possibilities and consequences of the state’s increased involvement in the economy. He specifically looked at the shift in the global economy to the online/virtual world brought about by the migration of many industries, where the consumer is increasingly being turned into the product.
