 In collaboration with the Heinrich Böll Stiftung Beirut, a webinar to launch the Middle East edition of the World Nuclear Industry Status Report 2020 (WNISR) was organized on Tuesday, June 8, 2021. The World Nuclear Industry Status Report (WNISR) is an independent and authoritative annual report that provides a comprehensive overview of developments on nuclear power across the globe. The WNISR 2020 edition includes a special focus chapter on Nuclear Power in the Middle East that analyses the significance of the first operating nuclear power plant in the Arab world and the status of nuclear programs in five other countries in the region. In this event, the authors of the WNISR discussed the main global findings of the report and the prospects of nuclear energy development in the Middle East region. The discussion also covered the political, economic, and environmental considerations of the undergoing energy transition in the region.
The Middle East edition of the World Nuclear Industry Status Report (WNISR) was translated to Arabic and published by the Issam Fares Institute with the support of Heinrich Böll Stiftung Beirut.
